Is overlap free to join?
Yes. Creating an account and sharing what you are going through costs nothing.
Do I need Claude or ChatGPT?
No. You can use overlap's own chat on this site. If you already use Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect overlap there too.
How does matching work?
An AI compares the meaning of your request with the other requests in the pool and looks for close ones. Nothing is posted or searchable. A match can take days, and it is not guaranteed.
What happens if we both say yes?
A private one-to-one conversation opens with a short icebreaker. Where it goes is up to the two of you.
What if I say not now, or want to leave?
Saying “not now” is private; the other person is never told. You can withdraw your request at any time, and you can report or block anyone. A block is permanent.
Who can use overlap?
Adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account.
